I’ve always been one to create great content, but now I see it may not necessarily be the right content. Can Share Triggers work for all niches including things like plumbing companies, computer repair, maybe even handy men that have a website for their business? I would say I’m estimating half the views a month as I should. Hopefully some of these strategies will help.


A blog is one of the best ways to generate website traffic and get new leads. In fact, studies show that businesses with a blog get 55% more website traffic than those that don’t have a blog. A well-written, frequently updated blog that addresses the problems and interests of your target audience will keep visitors coming back. And the results are cumulative—according to one study, blog posts continue to drive website traffic up to 700 days after they go live.

In the beginning, it’s nice to think that a committed and engaged audience will just fall into your lap if you reach out to the right people and follow the right steps, but it’s just not that easy. This was very interesting. I run a website that promotes sports entertainment amongst teenagers who are graphic designers or video editors. The foundation is in place (Over 60 contributors) so my only focus is how to blog consistently about what goes on in the sports world with appeal to teenagers. Reddit is a little tricky, because if you are overtly self-promotional the readers will pick up on it immediately and “downvote you to oblivion,” as they say. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t have success there. Put connecting with the community and building a rapport with dedicated commenters first. Then, you can make a post and ask for feedback once you feel comfortable.
While Facebook’s organic reach continues to decrease, as Facebook prioritizes posts from users’ friends and family members, that doesn’t make this platform less of a powerhouse. You can obtain website traffic from Facebook groups, Facebook Ads, Messenger, social media posts, and of course your own business page. For online store owners, you can promote products in buy and sell Facebook groups to help ensure you receive website traffic from people who are interested in buying your products. Also, by combining Facebook ads with consistently posting on your Facebook page, you’ll increase the chances of getting website traffic from various areas in Facebook. Mentioning brands, articles, and related influencers within a piece is always a great opportunity to distribute content. When I publish a post, I aim to have between 10 and 20 links in the piece, from pull quotes to mentions. When I post, boom, I have 10 to 20 people to email to let them know I featured them. I’ll ask them to share the piece with their followers on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn.

To make up for the slow growth there, you’ve been investing a lot more in Google Ads. The ads help with visibility, but they’re not getting the conversions you want. You also want to create some professional looking videos, but the extent of your staff’s experience is using their iPhones to capture their dogs’ new tricks. 
Like you I am a scientist and like you did in the past, I am currently working on translating great scientific literature into tips. In my case it’s child development research into play tips for parents. I can already see that the outcome of my experiment is going to be the same as yours. Great content but who cares. I hadn’t even thought about my key influences. I know some important ones, but don’t see how they would share my content. I thought I was writing content for my potential customers. Is your SEO that works course the same as the content that gets results course? Sorry if I sound a bit dim asking that question.

To summarize, you need to figure out why a virtual summit is the right venue, what your topic will be, and who you’re going to network with to make it happen. You’ll need thought leaders, influencers, teams, businesses, bloggers, anyone who already has a committed audience and a distinct POV who will add value to an event like this.
Finding your guest bloggers may sound like quite the task, but it doesn’t have to be. One place you can head to is social networks, like a Facebook Group for bloggers. You’ll more than likely find several willing participants. Another place worth checking out is dedicated websites like, Blogger Link Up to take on the task. How you approach your guest blogger is important. Don’t reach out with a vague email. Be direct, let them know about your existing blog’s content and that you think they would make a great contributor to the blog. Be preemptive and anticipate questions they may have by being as informative as you can without writing a blog yourself within the email.
In other words, actively developing your own media allows you to be in much better control of what results come up in the search results pages and for which keywords. When flawlessly implemented, this concept allows you to dominate entire search results pages, thus harvesting most of the search traffic for the chosen search terms, leaving nothing to your competition.

It’s not enough to produce great content and hope that people find it – you have to be proactive. One of the best ways to increase traffic to your website is to use social media channels to promote your content. Twitter is ideal for short, snappy (and tempting) links, whereas Google+ promotion can help your site show up in personalized search results and seems especially effective in B2B niches.
